Myanmar (Burma) is everything I love about birding: a rich but poorly known avifauna that is just begging to be explored; a large, fascinating country that just demands exploration; and a country that boasts a delightful mix of huge areas of forest and wetlands; a wonderfully gentle, gracious culture; and an intriguing history that is filled with fabulous antiquities. Myanamar is everything I imagined the Orient to be when I first travelled in Asia, 38 years ago.
