Feel the beat …

“Uganda” the very name makes your pulse quicken. This is undoubtedly one of the most birdy places on our planet. Add to that a breathtaking range of mammals including Mountain Gorilla, Chimpanzee, Savanna Elephant and host of very neat nocturnal creatures and you have the beginnings of a superlative tour. Then add delightfully comfortable and beautifully located lodges, good, safe food, fabulous landscapes and some absolutely charming people and you definitely have all the ingredients for the tour of a lifetime. If you relish the prospect of a country teeming with wonderful birds and mammals including such mega-charismatic species as that literal giant among birds the incredible Shoebill, and a host of very neat Albertine Rift endemics, then look no further than David Bishop Bird Tours Uganda safari. The joys of travelling in East Africa are many. Besides all the fabulous birds and mammals, the people are friendly, the climate is delightful, and tourist facilities are excellent. Uganda is safe and delightfully friendly – many of the people are Arsenal soccer fans so for this British-born adventurer they have to be great!

Discover the magic…

Typically we will travel in a 4X4 Toyota Landcruiser or similar that has been specially adapted for safari work, with large roof hatches that make observation and photography easy. Each participant will have a window seat, and there is room for everyone to stand up through the open roof. We will be staying in hotels and lodges that offer an amazing degree of comfort and convenience in some of the finest birding habitats. It is the extraordinary range of habitats crammed into this lovely country that is responsible for the plethora of birds and other wildlife that we are likely to encounter at every turn. I first visited Uganda in the early 1980s and again in the mid-1990s and several times more recently; the positive changes, which have taken place since then are nothing short of astonishing. The quality of the roads; the lovely lodges and hotels and the number of knowledgeable local guides all make this a tour to savour. Contact me for further details on this very special tour.
